여성혐오 공약 발표한 대선 후보자들이 쏘아올린 작은 공,
신남성연대는 남성 얼굴에 먹칠하지 말고 연예인 초상권 침해에 사죄하라.
반여성주의를 표방하고 있는 신남성연대가 지난 13일 신촌역 인근에서 여성가족부 폐지를 촉구하는 집회를 열었다. 그리고 이날 집회에서는 남성의 이름을 먹칠하는 일이 발생했다. 바로 연예인 전효성이 과거 메이드복을 입고 촬영한 사진을 대형 인쇄하여 애드벌룬으로 띄운 것이다. 그 아래에는 연예인 개인을 비난하는 “응 누나 페미 코인 못 타^^”라는 문장을 덧붙였다. 가수 전효성이 여성가족부의 캠페인에 참여했다는 게 이유다.
정부 여가부 캠페인에 참여했다는 이유로 한 여성 개인을 조롱하고 초상권까지 침해하다니, 참으로 치졸하고 더러운 짓이 아닐 수 없다. 연예인도 사람이다. 연예인도 초상권이 있다. 그들도 우리처럼 상처도 받는다. 디지털 성폭력이 왜 그렇게 비일비재한지 참으로 잘 알겠다. 낮은 성인지 감수성과 비인간적 정서를 지닌 이들이 온·오프라인을 가리지 않고 폭력을 저지르는 것이다.
뿐만 아니라 해당 사건은 한국사회에 노골적으로 존재하는 여성혐오를 여실히 보여준다. 개인 여성을 아무렇지 않게 조롱하고 모욕하는 대한민국의 현실에서 어떻게 여성들이 발 딛고 살 수 있겠는가?
우리 한국여성정치네트워크는 3일간 이 논평을 쓰지 않고 기다렸다. 신남성연대에 대한 비판을 남성 스스로가 시작하길 바라며 말이다. 지금도 늦지 않았다. 진정 올바른 사회를 꿈꾸는 남성 시민들이 남성을 욕되게 하는 신남성연대에 대한 비판을 이어가길 바란다.
또한 반여성주의 행보를 이어가고 있는 대선주자들을 규탄한다. 당신들의 여성혐오 발언과 정책이 바로 이 괴물같은 사건을 만들어냈다. 여성가족부 이름을 바꾸겠다거나, 폐지하겠다는 후보들의 말이 나비효과가 되어 여성의 일상을 이렇게 위협한다. 반성하라.
연예인 전효성 씨에게는 위로의 말을 전한다. 잊지 말라. 전효성 씨를 사랑하는 많은 여성 팬, 남성 팬이 있다. 그리고 필요하다면 일부 몰지각한 이들에게 법적 대응을 이어가라. 연예인은 감정의 쓰레기통이 아니라는 걸 우리는 잘 알고 있다. 꿋꿋하게 자신의 목소리를 이어가는 당신의 용기를 응원한다.

The New Men's Solidarity: Do not disgrace men's names and apologize for the infringement of Jeon Hyo-sung's portrait rights.
The New Men's Solidarity, an organization that advocates anti-feminism and "men's rights," held a rally on the 13th to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. At this rally, they tarnished the reputation of many men; committing an act of slander. They printed a large-scale photo of celebrity Jeon Hyo-sung taken in a made-up suit in the past and displayed it as an advertising balloon. Below that, they added the sentence "yeah, sister. You can't get some feminism-coin^^", mocking individual celebrities. They made fun of Jeon Hyo-sung for participating in the campaign brought forth by the Ministry of Women's Rights and Family.
The New Men's Solidarity seriously ridiculed an individual woman, using her name, likeness, or other personal attributes without permission for an exploitative purpose on behalf of the man because of the fact that Jeon Hyo-sung has participated in the official government campaign. It is an absolutely unforgivable disgrace and dirty thing to do. Celebrities are people, too. Celebrities also have portrait rights and rights to privacy. Sometimes, they are also be hurt like us. We can genuinely understand through this case is why digital sexual violence is so common in South Korea. It is because that people with low gender sensitivity and inhumane emotions commit gender-based sexual violence both online and offline.
In addition, the case clearly shows the blatant misogyny that exists in Korean society. How can women live in the reality of South Korea, when individual women can be ridiculed and insulted so casually with no care or repercussions?
We, 'Network to Organize Women in South Korea,' have waited for three days without writing this comment. We hoped that men themselves would start criticizing 'the New Male Solidarity.' To our disappointment, but not our surprise, no group has spoken up. It is not too late even now. We demand that male citizens who have the courage for equal society and women's rights continue to criticize the New Male Solidarity in this moment of injustice.
We also condemn presidential candidates who continue down the path of promoting politics that are contrary to women's liberation. The misogynistic remarks and policies by the emerging two-party system in Korea have created this monstrous event in gender inequality. Changing the name of the Ministry of Women's Rights and Family or pledges to abolish the Ministry made a snowball effect, threatening women's daily lives and equality that liberal democracies are supposed to uphold. Shame on you.
Lastly, we deliver words of consolation and solidarity to Jeon Hyo-sung. Don't forget that there are many female and male fans who love you. And if necessary, don't be afraid to take legal action against these ignorant people. We know well that celebrities are not trash cans of people's emotions. We cheer for you who dare to continue your feminist voice firmly.
